Eric del Castillo rođen je u Ciudad de Mexicu 1962. godine. Nakon studija filma i slikarstva počeo je karijeru umjetničkog direktora i vizualnog umjetnika. Dobio je stipendiju Nacionalnog fonda za umjetnost i kulturu (FONCA), Meksiko i Nacionalne zaklade za umjetnost (NEA), SAD te je bio rezidentni umjetnik u Centru za umjetnost Headlands, Sausalito, Kalifornija. Dosad je izlagao na brojnim grupnim i samostalnim izložbama u Ciudad de Mexicu, Splitu, Zagrebu, Omišu, San Antoniju, Madridu, Beču, Berlinu... Godine 2018. donirao je Dokumentacijskom centru Arkheia, MUAC, Sveučilišni muzej suvremene umjetnosti (UNAM), dokumentarnu zbirku pod nazivom El Sindicato del Terror / Eric del Castillo Found. Riječ je o Arhivi performansa 80-ih i 90-ih u Meksiku – o performans-grupama El Sindicato del Terror, Los Escombros de la Ruptura i La Sociedad Mexicana Protectora del Espectador de Performance te općenito meksičkoj sceni performansa. Živi i radi u Splitu.
Eric del Castillo was born in Mexico City in 1962. After studying film and painting began a career as an art director and visual artist. He received fellowship from the National Fund for Arts and Culture (FONCA), Mexico, and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), USA. and was resident artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito Ca. Up till now he has exhibit in numerous group and solo shows in Mexico City, Split, Zagreb, Omiš, San Antonio, Madrid, Vienna, Berlin... In 2018, he donated a documentary collection: El Sindicato del Terror/Eric del Castillo Found. Performance archive of the 80´s and 90´s in Mexico about performance groups El Sindicato del Terror, LosEscombros de la Ruptura and La Sociedad Mexicana Protectora del Espectador de Performance and the Mexican performance scene in general to Arkheia Documentation Center. MUAC, University Museum of Contemporary Art, UNAM. Works and lives in Split.

Čovječanstvo u cjelini živi kroz ovu oluju koju je stvorio nevidljivi neprijatelj, ali nitko nije u istom brodu, svatko plovi sam. To je odraz suvremenog društva, izolirane osobe u svom svijetu. Stiliti ovog rada na neki su način privilegirani likovi, zaštićeni su i naizgled sigurni i bez brige za druge, ali, kao i mnogi drugi, nemaju slobodu ili izlaz, žive u neizvjesnoj sadašnjosti i otkazanoj budućnosti, čovječanstvo će morati naučiti živjeti ne u novom normalnom, već u novoj stvarnosti.

Humanity as a whole lives through this storm generated by an invisible enemy, but no one is in the same ship, each one is sailing on their own. It´s a reflection of contemporary society, the isolated individual in its own world. The Stilitas of this work are privileged characters in some way, they are protected and apparently safe and without worrying about others, but like many others they have no freedom or a way out, they live in a uncertain present and a cancelled future, humanity will have to learn to live not in a new normal but in a new reality.
